For Spanish translations, we currently have three people on the marketing team with Spanish fluency/literacy: Magy Curiel, Carol Ross, and Derek Braeden. One staff member will take on making the initial translation, then a secondary staff member will proofread it (as we do for English copy). If we make design materials, we have another staff member take a final review of the materials and proofread all language. When staff do not have capacity or are unable to complete the Spanish translations, we use a translation service and proof in-house.
For all other languages, we use a translation service. We use double-peered review translations. This means that we send them the English text we need translated and which languages we need them translated to. When they have translated the materials, the peers review the translations and make any edits and revisions needed to best represent the message.
When we have staff members who are fluent in a language we are translating to, we often run our translations by them to ensure that the translations are accurate and best represent the Library.
Please note that if our translations through the translation services are incorrect, we can be refunded. Please let us know if it is incorrect.
