The Salt Lake City Public Library recognizes citizens’ fundamental right of political expression. As a politically neutral institution, the Library does not endorse or oppose the issues or views expressed through a petition drive. 

Petitioning is not permitted inside Library buildings, including the Urban Room of the Main Library. The right to petition on Library grounds is granted through Salt Lake City Corporation’s Special Events Office. Individuals or groups wishing to petition on the grounds of any City Library must obtain a Free Expression Activity Permit from Salt Lake City Corporation’s Special Events Office, 801-535-6110 or http://www.slcgov.com/sites/default/files/documents/slcevents/2012/Free_Expression_Instructions_and_Guidelines%5B1%5D.pdf

Petitioners must fully comply with Salt Lake City Corporation’s First Amendment Petition Guidelines.
